Upgrade

The CDF detector is being upgraded for Run II. The completed upgrade Technical Design Report is available. Almost all of the electronics is being replaced, including the front-end, trigger and DAQ. The CDF Upgrade page has an overview of the project. The Trigger Working Group is putting together the trigger table for Run II.

There are several projects that we are involved in, the TDC, the muon trigger, and the Level 2 trigger.

The TDC will be used to record the time of pulses from the central tracking chamber, the muon chambers, and the central hadron calorimeter phototubes.

The muon trigger will be used for both level 1 and level 2. Finding stubs from the muon chambers, and matching the stubs to scintillator hits and tracks found in the track processor will be done for the level one trigger. The information used in the level 1 trigger will be passed to Level 2.

The Level 2 trigger collects data from the calorimeter, the XFT, the SVT, the muon system, and the shower max detector. The data that is collected is analyzed in the Level 2 processors.

A complete list of the boards and projects is below.
